How often should i descale my machine?

Even if you brew just one cup per day, don’t wait more than 2–3 months between descalings if you have medium or hard water – scale forms over time, not just per usage and at a certain degree it is too late to get the pipes freed without opening up the machine and mechanically remove the scale. Below you find some guidelines. Here you can learn more about your local water condition.

Water Hardness (°dH) Water Type Descaling Interval Approx. Servings
0–3 Very soft Every 6 months ~400
4–7 Soft Every 4–5 months ~300
8–14 Medium Every 2–3 months ~150–200
15–21 Hard Every 1.5–2 months ~100–150
22+ Very hard Every 4–6 weeks ~60–100

cleaning of components

TO AVOID CLOGGING AND KEEP THE MACHINE FRESH

Cleaning the nozzle:
Cleaning the nozzle is recommended after 1-2 years of use to clean it from coffee residues. Pull the nozzle away from the machine in a 30 degree angle to the side. Be forceful but slow to avoid breaking the hooks. Soak the nozzle in dish soap water for some minutes. Then, brush it from the inside to clean it and reinsert it by pressing it back into its original position.

Cleaning of capsule inlet and filter plate:
After some time coffee residues can accumulate inside the capsule inlet (where the capsule is inserted). Use a a brush and brush in circular movements over the filter plate (the part that perforates the capsule) and other affected areas. Note that some residues may drop into the capsule container.

Cleaning of capsule container:
Remove the capsules from the container frequently and rinse with dishwashing liquid to avoid mould or bad smell.

Cleaning the water tank:
Clean the water tank from lime stains or sewage frequently by using a non-abrasive cloth and mild agent.
